Very helpful, warm, understanding, and kind. He was good at listening to me, and I trusted him as much as I could after a one hour meeting. Maybe it would have been good to push for more info on my biological symptoms, I'm not sure.

My session with Dr Denny was excellent, very calm and informative. This was my first experience of seeking psychiatric care and my anxieties were eased by his friendly approach. He guided the session clearly, allowing me to explain my experiences and feelings. I felt listened to and understood and not rushed or overwhelmed. I already have a better understanding of my mental health now and Dr Denny provided links for me to read more about things that may help me. I would recommend Dr Denny to anyone seeking clarity or diagnosis relating to their mental health. I ended the session feeling that I had made progress not that I'd been through a process.

Dr. Denny saw me for a complex PTSD diagnosis over 1.5 sessions. In both cases, he kept the conversation productive and helped me to help him understand what might be relevant, while making me feel at ease. Given the matter I was seeking diagnosis for, I had some nervousness that I might be made to feel rushed or not get to cover all of the material I wanted to. Dr. Denny did a great job at making sure I was heard, and providing me useful guidance about the best ways to seek treatment: it felt like I finished with a plan of action and not just a diagnosis.

After searching for answers to my problems for many years, Dr Denny diagnosed my illness and for the first time in a long time, I feel much better.

Profile

I am a Consultant Psychiatrist. I was an NHS Consultant in Adult Mental Health for over 20 years and now work privately.

I trained as a doctor at Bristol University. I have a degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Psychotherapy. I became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1996 and a Fellow of the College a decade ago.

I make sure my patients receive a comprehensive assessment and appropriate treatment. In addition to prescribing medication, my psychodynamic approach helps to understand how past experiences relate to present difficulties. This can often be the key to recovery.
